TOP 5 Alternate Versions of Spider-Man

Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko and debuting in Amazing Fantasy # 15 in 1962 Spider-Man has become a household name and is known by comic book fans and by those that have never picked up a comic book in their life, most people when asked about Spider-Man would think of the original Peter Parker version but what some people might not know is that there have been countless different versions of the super hero and with all the talk about Spider-Man coming back to the MCU I thought it was a good time to go over some of my favorite versions.

Spider-Man (Miles Morales)

Created by the great Brian Michael Bendis this version of Spider-Man debuted in 2011 in Ultimate Fallout # 4, Miles Morales is an Afro-Latino teenager who takes over the moniker after Peter Parker is killed and his costume is quite different than the usual one and happens to be a lot of fans favorite version of the costume, this version was also in the recent animated movie Into The Spider-Verse, fans have grown to love this version of Spider-Man and I for one can’t wait to see him on the big screen or even the MCU if Sony permits it.

Spider-Girl

There are actually two characters that go by the name Spider-Girl but I’m talking about the Mayday Parker version here, first appearing in What If (vol. 2) #105 Mayday Parker is the daughter of Peter Parker and Mary Jane Parker from a future alternate universe, she would go on to star in her own comic and has even been part of superhero teams such as The Avengers, New Warriors and Fantastic Five and she shares the same powers as her father except with a little less strength.

Marvel Zombies Spider-Man

The zombie version of Spider-Man debuted in Marvel Zombies # 1 in 2015 , set in a parallel universe where basically everyone becomes a zombie and eats each other, Spider-Man ends up being one of the only super heroes to have guilt over what he’s done, although he still can’t stop himself from doing it, he is also the first of the zombies to turn on the other zombies.

Spider-Gwen

From alternate universe Earth-65 Spider-Gwen is a version of Gwen Stacy who debuted in Edge of Spider-Verse #2 in 2014 and was featured in her own comic shortly after, in the Earth-65 universe Gwen Stacy was bit by the radioactive spider instead of Peter Parker . This version has garnered a ton of fans and is one of the most popular iterations of Spider-Man.

Spider-Ham

Perhaps the most comedic take on the character this version is a pig with Spider-Man’s powers and hey how can you argue with that right? He debuted way back in 1983 in Marvel Tails Starring Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham, yes his name is Peter Porker rather than Peter Parker , it’s a dad joke of a name and I love it, his origin is quite unique as he was actually born a spider who was bit by the pig version of aunt May whose name was May Porker but before she bit him she was irradiated by an atomic powered hair dryer she invented, yea quite the origin huh, gotta love it.
