It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia Turns 15 Today Here’s How Twitter Is Celebrating

It may be Obama’s birthday but just as many people are honoring today for the fact the TV series It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia turns 15 today. The show quickly became a cultural phenomenon thanks in part to it’s unique brand of humor and it’s great cast including Danny DeVito, Howie Day and Kaitlin Olson among others. Twitter users are tweeting out birthday wishes to the show and I thought it’d be fun to take a look at some of them, so without further adieu let’s get started.

Many people would agree with this sentiment and yes I could always use a nice egg…

It was part of our lives for many years and people are sharing their favorite episodes.

Even people that aren’t die-hard fans still appreciate the glorious memes that were inspired by the show.

Although it’s not everyone’s favorite show it does tend to be in a lot of people’s top 5 list.

Some people are just tweeting their version of a happy birthday song.

It was certainly made when there were a lot fewer snowflakes in the world.

Man that’s a lot of TV watching…

It is a great show, which we don’t get too often these days.

Television Network G4 Is Making A Comeback In 2021

This years Comic-Con at home event was unique and had tons of exciting news for gamers of all kinds but perhaps the most exciting news for some gamers was the video that aired hinting at the fact that the video game network G4 will be coming back in some form in 2021 sometime.

Before there were thousands of popular streamers and before people got most of their video game news from Youtube there was G4. It was every gamers favorite network at one point or another and when it was at it’s peak with shows like X-Play and Attack of the Show it was the best network around for anything video games and I’m looking forward to having it back in our lives in some shape or form.

G4 was the first place many of us ever saw Happy Tree Friends and it was also my first exposure to Olivia Munn…fucking gorgeous by the way but sorry off topic…there is no word yet exactly how the network will be coming back but logically to me it makes the most sense for them to start a Youtube channel with that having much less overhead than running a TV network. Anyways I’m not the only one excited for the return of G4, let’s take a look at what people are saying on Twitter.

Even IGN seems excited…wouldn’t they be competitors?

They were an influence on a whole generation of gamers.

Attack of the Show making it even more official than it already was.

Wonder if this means she’ll be back on there again.

It was very unique programming especially for it’s time.

Yea I kind of miss watching him and Morgan every evening, don’t miss Adam Sessler so much though…sorry bro. 😦

It really did help many people realize a career in gaming was obtainable.

Inspiration to a whole generation for sure.

History man..history.

What are your thoughts? Are you excited to see the return of G4?

What do you miss most about it?

An Honest Review Of The Netflix Series Daybreak

The new Netflix Series Daybreak was just released on October 24, 2019 and is based on the comic book by Brian Ralph. The show depicts a world where nuclear weapons have wiped out most people over 18 and the ones that weren’t killed went crazy instead. Most of the focus is on a high school student named Josh and the problems he comes across in a world run by children. The show is mostly unknown actors and new faces but Matthew Broderick is a pretty big part of the show and it’s nice to see a familiar face on screen alongside all the ones you’ve never seen. So far there is only 1 season with 10 episodes and the show wraps up in a way that could either be the end of the story or the beginning of a much larger story.

The Good

There is a lot to like about Daybreak including an assortment of interesting characters and groups sorted by their high school stereotypes such as a gang of jocks or the Cheerazons , which are a group of cheerleaders but with that post apocalyptic twist. There are lots of characters that you just can’t help but root for including a gay, black self proclaimed samurai, a 10 year-old girl who is a genius and a sociopath and basically any other teenage stereotype you can think of.

The show is also pretty damn funny at times and was interesting enough that I binged it all in one day. The show doesn’t take itself too seriously and gives us a great comedic take on the end of the world, answering the question “What would happen if the world was run by teenagers?”, the answer being pretty much what you’d assume…they fuck it all up beyond belief.

The Bad

Although I did like the show a lot I feel as though the plot was rushed too much seeing it’s a series, I feel they could have explored the characters more and built a better foundation for a show that would last and have multiple seasons. It feels as though the writer’s tried for the first 5 episodes and then rushed to finish it in the next 5.

Another thing that really confused me about the show is that towards the end I found myself very annoyed by the main character Josh and it is clear that was not the show’s intentions and it’s not just him but another main character named Sam also ends up being quite annoying towards the end and these are basically the show’s 2 main characters. It was pretty odd to find myself rooting for the villains by the end of the show because I just couldn’t stand the “good” guys anymore.

Is It Worth Watching?

If you go into this series expecting a deep plot and a thought provoking exploration of the apocalypse you will be very disappointed but if you go into it expecting a kind of cheesy and goofy comedy and take it for what it is , it’s actually a pretty enjoyable show. Sometimes you just want to watch TV and not think at all and this show allows you to do both yet keeps you interested at the same time. I would recommend this show to pretty much anyone as it has a little bit of everything.

5 TV Shows That Ended Perfectly

There are so many shows on television these days and the majority of them are complete garbage. Even when a show is good the producers usually end up rushing the later seasons as a result of greed and wanting to make as many profits as they can as quickly as they can or they just stop trying towards the end of a show and write the easiest ending they can think of. A perfect example of this is Dexter which was a series on Showtime about a Forensics expert that was also a serial killer. The ending made what was an amazing show into a totally pointless series of events but sometimes they do TV justice and end a show the right way. So let’s look at this glass as half full and talk about some shows that ended in ways that left viewers happy and satisfied. I’ll try not to spoil too much for the people that haven’t seen these shows.

Sons of Anarchy

Sons of Anarchy was about a family at the head of a motorcycle club and all the drama revolving around it. The series was created by Kurt Sutter and aired from 2008-2014 totaling 92 episodes over 7 seasons. It starred Ron Pearlman as the head of the motorcycle club, Katey Sagal as his wife Gemma and Charlie Hunnam as his stepson Jax. It garnered a huge following throughout its run and ended in a manner that not only wrapped up all the storylines in a nice neat little package but left room for spinoffs and prequel series if they ever wanted. Currently the spinoff series The Mayans is having a decent run on FX.

Breaking Bad

Revolving around the life of a high school chemistry teacher turned Crystal meth dealer named Walter White(Bryan Cranston) and his ex student/partner Jessie(Aaron Paul) the show is in my humble opinion one of the best shows ever made for television. With 5 seasons and 62 episodes it takes you on a harrowing, chaotic and life changing journey with characters you can’t help but root for even when they’re doing the worst of things. The show ends in a bittersweet manner but also in a way that left fans feeling that’s the only way it ever could have ended. There is currently a spinoff film on the way called El Camino and the prequel series Better Call Saul has done exceptionally as well.

The Sopranos

The Sopranos premiered in 1990 on HBO and ran for 86 episodes over 6 seasons and was about the Mafia and their families and how mafia life interfered with them living normal lives. It starred the late great James Gandolfini and Lorraine Bracco. I’m sure a lot of people will disagree with me on this one as there are plenty of people that didn’t love the ending but I love the unique way it ended and the fact no other TV show had ever done it in the past, it left things off where the viewer gets to make up their own mind about how it ends. There is actually a prequel series in the works right now which will star James Gandolfini’s son as a young Tony Soprano.

Six Feet Under

Yet another show that HBO did right Six Feet Under premiered in 2001 and ran for 63 episodes over 5 seasons. It focuses on a family that runs a funeral home but is really all about death and the many different ways it can affect people. The show ended in a manner that paid perfect homage to what the show was really about and left fans with no unanswered questions. It starred Michael C. Hall and Rachel Griffiths and it won 9 Emmy awards.

Seinfeld

Starring Jerry Seinfeld and running for 9 seasons Seinfeld is one of the longest running and best known comedy shows to ever air on television and also has one of the most memorable endings in TV history and this one I think is safe to spoil at this point. The show ends with the whole cast in a jail cell together doing their usual banter about life’s little mysteries and the comedy in everyday things. Jerry Seinfeld now has a show on Netflix Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee which is certainly worth a watch.

Why Preacher is the Best Kind of Twisted Television.

Developed by Sam Catlin, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg for AMC Preacher is based on a comic book by Garth Ennis, it stars Dominic Cooper as the preacher who gains the power to make anyone do anything simply by speaking the words out loud, it also stars Ruth Negga as his love interest and Joseph Gilgun as his Vampiric best friend. The series just ended on September 29, 2019 wrapping up the fourth and final season. It’s a shame to see such a good show end but a great time to go over what made this show so great.

The show revolves around Jessie Custer(Dominic Cooper) a down on his luck and faith preacher who gains an incredible power and sets out to have a face to face with God himself, his girlfriend Tulip(Ruth Negga) and new best friend who happens to also be a vampire Cassidy(Joseph Gilgun) join him on this journey and all kinds of chaos ensues, I’ll try not to give away too much of the plot here but to truly describe this show like it deserves you need to describe the crazy cast of characters as they are what gives this show real life.

I’ve already mentioned the Preacher with a crazy power and his Vampiric best friend, not to mention Tulip his crazy badass no fear girlfriend but as the show goes on the cast of characters just gets crazier and crazier. There is a kid named Eugene who has a face that looks like an anus because he shot himself with a shotgun and lived, in the comics they call him Arseface. There are angels that are much dumber than you’d expect an angel to be, there is a man that runs an extremist Christian sect who has a bullet wound on the top of his head making it resemble male genitalia , he also has a replacement ear made of a vampire’s foreskin and if that’s not enough to make you want to check the show out Hitler also escapes from hell and joins in the fun and there is a clone of Jesus named Humperdoo.

I’m sorry to see the show end nonetheless it was an extremely enjoyable show to watch while it lasted. It’s probably not a great show if you’re easily offended as that seems to be a main theme of the show…Just how offensive can they be each week but in the best way possible. If you haven’t checked this show out I highly advise you do.

Parallels Between Game of Thrones and The Bible

While talking to my best friend this morning about the fact that the King James version of the bible has the word dragon in it 21 times and I realized that there are many other similarities between the Bible and Game of thrones, besides the fact they both speak of dragons let’s go over some of the other parallels, I’m going to be comparing the bible to the TV show as the books are not finished yet and I came up with all of this in about 30 minutes this morning so I’m sure I may miss some things, I’m not a big believer in the Bible but I do know the stories contained within it from when I was a kid and how close they are to some parts of Game of Thrones is actually kind of crazy.

Jon Snow

Jon Snow was the son of royalty, the rightful king and was raised by another man, Ned Stark and his wife, Jesus was the son of God and was raised by Joseph and his wife but that isn’t where the Jon Snow and Jesus similarities end, they were both betrayed by people they thought of as friends and died because of it, they were both dead for a prolonged amount of time before being resurrected and the room Jon Snow was shut in while waiting to be raised from the dead is very much like the cave Jesus was shut into while awaiting his resurrection, the similarities end though after they are raised from the dead as Jesus forgives his betrayers whereas Jon Snow executes all of his, it’s a working theory and it’s not perfect but the similarities are there.

Plague of Blood/Battle of the Bastards

The Bible speaks of 10 plagues and although I couldn’t find parallels with all 10 plagues I did with quite a few of them and the first plague in the Bible is a plague of blood. I equate this plague to The Battle of The Bastards on Game of Thrones as the battle left piles and piles of bodies and rivers of blood on the ground and was perhaps the bloodiest episode of the show.

Plague of Boils/Greyscale

“So the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, ‘Take for yourselves handfuls of ashes from a furnace, and let Moses scatter it toward the heavens in the sight of Pharaoh. And it will become fine dust in all the land of Egypt, and it will cause boils that break out in sores on man and beast throughout all the land of Egypt’” (Exodus 9:8-9) is what the Bible says about the Plague of Boils and I can’t help but view Greyscale as its counterpart, a disease in Game of Thrones that grows all over the person’s skin like hard rock is close enough to boils for me.

Plague of Locusts/The Dothraki

Maybe a bit of a looser connection on this one but the bible says “…if you refuse to let My people go, behold, tomorrow I will bring locusts into your territory. And they shall cover the face of the earth, so that no one will be able to see the earth; and they shall eat the residue of what is left, which remains to you from the hail, and they shall eat every tree which grows up for you out of the field” (Exodus 10:4-5). and I can’t help but think about the Dothraki and how they attack in huge herds of horses running over armies like nothing can stop them, although the Dothraki weren’t really portrayed as if they were a plague they did end up on the wrong side in the end of the show and they did take part in over running more than one army like a plague of locusts.

Plague of Darkness/The Night King’s Army

“Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Stretch out your hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, darkness which may even be felt.’ So Moses stretched out his hand toward heaven, and there was thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days” (Exodus 10:21-22). The Night king’s name even implies darkness and the way the undead army washed over the north and especially the final battle at Winterfell was all about darkness, it’s not difficult at all to see the similarities here.

Plague of the First Born

“Then Moses said, ‘Thus says the Lord: “About midnight I will go out into the midst of Egypt; and all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the female servant who is behind the handmill, and all the firstborn of the animals.

Then there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as was not like it before, nor shall be like it again. But against none of the children of Israel shall a dog move its tongue, against man or beast, that you may know that the Lord does make a difference between the Egyptians and Israel”’” (Exodus 11:4-7).

This one isn’t a perfect theory but think about it for a minute how many first born children actually made it to the end of Game of Thrones, Rob stark died, all of Cersei’s children died, Beside little Sam and Jon Snow I can’t think of any first borns who actually survived to the end of the series.

I’m still working on the theory as a whole and will update this when I come up with more, is there anything I missed that you thought of? let me know with a comment.
