The action adventure game Ghost of Tsushima was released today and seems to be getting a lot of positive attention. Developed by Sucker Punch Productions and published by Sony the game takes you on a journey through Japan in 1274 during the first Mongol invasion and puts you in the role of a samurai named Jin Sakai who is one of the last remaining samurai left.
This isn’t so much a review as I have not played the game yet, although I do plan to eventually but seeing the response on Twitter and the beautiful screenshots people are sharing from the breathtaking in-game world I just wanted to take part in spreading the word about what so far sounds and looks like a fantastic game.
Here’s what people on Twitter have been sharing about the game.
So far we only have a few details but those details are promising to say the least. With a release date of early 2021 there is still plenty of time for things to change with this game but as it stands now Giancarlo Esposito is confirmed to be the main antagonist of the game, probably best known for his role on Breaking Bad, he pretty much instantly gives this game credibility playing the main villain Anton Castillo.
The game takes place on an island named Yara and will be the largest game world to date for the Far Cry franchise. You’ll be in control of a local guerilla soldier by the name of Dani Rojas who will use makeshift weapons, vehicles and “amigos” or merceneries to get the job done.
Another detail to note is if you buy the PS4 version you will seemingly get the PS5 version free if you upgrade systems. also there seems to be 2-player multiplayer, which is always a plus. We’ll have to wait until at least Sunday for more details but so far things are shaping up to look promising for Far Cry 6.
With Christmas just around the corner it’s the perfect time to start your holiday gift shopping and there will be plenty to choose from this holiday season as far as video games go. Whether you’re shopping for friends, family or yourself it’s always good to plan ahead, so let’s take a look at some of the Playstation 4 games coming out next month.
Arise: A Simple Story
Arriving on December 3rd the cute little unique platformer Arise: A Simple Story will put gamers in control of time and give us a unique kind of gameplay revolving around this concept. Players will be in control of a man that has died and must journey through the moments of his life on a 10 level journey through a beautiful landscape with a wonderful art style. The game is due to be released for PS4, Xbox One and PC at the beginning of December.
Taking place in a world overrun with dragons the intense runner EarthNight will keep you on your toes and on the backs of dragons as you fight to free the world from their destruction. The game has a classic arcade feel to it with a beautiful art style , making the game a welcome addition to the holiday release schedule, EarthNight will be released for PS4, Xbox One, PC and Iphone and Android on December 3rd 2019.
Some of my favorite games to play when I was younger were the Dungeons & Dragons PC games like Baldur’s Gate and Neverwinter Nights and I am super excited for the release of Neverwinter Nights Enhanced Edition in December. The game is a remake of the 2002 game with graphical and gameplay improvements plus it comes along with all the DLC that Neverwinter Nights had back in the day including some Forgotten Realms offerings. The game is set to be released for consoles on December 3, 2019 and is sure to please Dungeons & Dragons fans everywhere.
I love the older RPGs like Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior and the game Heroland, developed by Xseed Games, looks like it will help me scratch that itch I’m having to play one of these games, it looks like it has a bit of a Paper Mario thing going on as well and that’s a great thing in my opinion. The game puts us in control of a theme park guide working at a theme park for wanna be heroes where you can explore dungeons and slay monsters on a quest to become a real hero. The game has a really cute look to it and looks to be a solid release for those of us who love old school RPGs and releases for PS4 and Nintendo Switch on December 3, 2019.
The action RPG game published by A44 Games will revolve around a lone wanderer traversing a land of darkness with your trusty lantern as your only source of light. Players will explore an open world and meet many other travelers such as other players and will be able to make choices regarding whether they make these people their allies or enemies, it is a game of choices that have a big effect on how the game turns out. It is available now on Xbox One and will be released for PS4 on December 9, 2019.
Playing through episodes rather than levels the 3rd person action adventure game Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey will allow players to play through some of mankind’s greatest moments with the focus on the fact that one decision could mean evolution or extinction. The game will be released for PS4 and Xbox One on December 6, 2019 and looks like it’ll be a lot of fun.
Based on the comic book series Blacksad by Juan Diaz Canales and Juanjo Guarnido the adventure game Blacksad: Under The Skin will put players in control of an anthropomorphic cat who is a detective with a cynical side and looks to be a pretty decent offering. The game will release for all platforms on December 10, 2019.
The final campaign in the Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove saga Shovel Knight: King of Cards gives players control of King Knight as he adventures through 4 new worlds and 30 brand new courses. Enjoy this unique platformer when it is released for all platforms on December 10, 2019.
Another Shovel Knight but this time a fighter/brawler Shovel Knight Showdown puts a new twist on the series. Take control of your favorite Shovel Knight characters and brawl it out with friends or tackle story mode by yourself. The game will be available for all platforms on December 10, 2019.
Based on the films but with an original storyline that stands on it’s own the first person shooter game Terminator: Resistance looks to be promising and is sure to please anyone with a grudge against robots. Taking place in Los Angeles about 30 years after judgement day the game revolves around a soldier of the resistance named Jacob Rivers as you battle through the game so save humanity from Skynet. The game will be available for PS4, Xbox One and PC on December 10, 2019.
I’m a huge fan of card games and deck building games like Slay the Spire and Monster Slayer and although I can’t find a ton of details about Cardpocalypse it sounds right up my alley and promises to be a unique experience where you change the cards and the rules as you play through this single player card game. The game will be available on all consoles and PC on December 12, 2019.
Any game from the makers of Katamari Damacy is sure to be unique and the adventure game Wattam looks like it will deliver on that. A unique art style and a world filled with colorful characters will certainly please fans of their past games but looks unique enough to attract newcomers as well. The adventure game will be available on PC and PS4 on December 17, 2019.
This list doesn’t contain every release coming in December but these are the games I would choose for myself for Christmas and I typically enjoy the games that fly under the radar.
Please note I may receive commissions when you click through links and make purchases.
Maybe it’s just me but I feel like most months I’m lucky if even one decent game I might enjoy is released and even then , these days most games are released with tons of bugs and patches needed. This month there are quite a few promising releases, so let’s go over them and hope they live up to the hype once released.
There has been a lot of hype around Death Stranding for a long time now and for good reason, the legend himself Hideo Kojima is involved and typically any game he puts his hands on ends up a masterpiece. It is Kojima’s first game since he left Konami back in 2015 and he promises to bring his unique storytelling method into this new game. Death Stranding is an open world action game that according go Kojima himself, will explore the connections between life and death. With talent like Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen involved Death Stranding is sure to be on a lot of Christmas lists this year and comes out for PS4 on November 8, 2019, although with games these days it could still end up delayed, so fingers crossed we get to play it this month.
When Star Wars: Battlefront 2 was released there was a lot of anger over the whole microtransaction aspect of the game but the game wasn’t horrible by any means. With the release of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order I for one think that Star Wars games will be redeemed as the game looks super promising. It’s a single player action-adventure game set after the event of the film Revenge of the Sith and puts players in control of a young Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis as he tries to escape the clutches of the Galactic Empire. I have found two different release dates for the game , it’s either November 11 or November 15, 2019 and will be released on not only PS4 but Xbox One and PC as well.
I’ve never been a fan of these games but I know there are a ton of people that absolutely love them and I can appreciate that. The Rhythm Dance game follows the same formula as it’s past entries with of course , updated music and it will be the first of the games to be released for Google Stadia. Some of the artists included in the game are Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, Billie Eilish, Skrillex and Justin Bieber plus a ton of other great artists. Just Dance 2020 actually came out today November 5, 2019 so if this is your thing you can buy it right now.
Amazingly this is the 24th entry into the Need For Speed series and will celebrate the 25th anniversary for the series. A racing game like all of the rest of the series Need For Speed Heat is sure to deliver more endless fun and intense racing to fans and newcomers alike. The game will feature 127 automobiles from 33 different manufacturers and is set to be released on November 8, 2019.
The sixth title in the series Romancing SaGa 3 and was originally released in Japan way back in 1995, Wii in 2010 and Wii U in 2014. In 2018 Square Enix announced that Romancing SaGa 3 would be coming out for multiple platforms in 2019. The game is like most other RPGs from the 90’s but with a unique level up system and giving you a choice of 8 playable characters at the start of the game as well as allowing you to discover and recruit new characters as you play through the game. The remaster will be released on November 11, 2019 for pretty much every platform and is perfect for those of us feeling nostalgic for an old school RPG with a modern feel.
Developed by Three Rings and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment Tokyo Ghoul: re Call To Exist is an action survival game based on the manga series written and illustrated by Sui Ishida which is set in a world partly populated by Ghouls, which look just like any other person with one exception, they feed on human flesh to survive. The game will be released for PS4 and Microsoft Windows on November 15, 2019.
The series that has garnered a cult following over the years gets it’s latest release with Shenmue III and is sure to give fans another great game. Shenmue III will continue the story of Ryu Hazuki’s attempt to discover who murdered his father in 1980’s China. The single player action adventure game is due to be released for PS4 and Windows on November 19, 2019 and will certainly be one of the big sellers this month.
The fourth entry in the Sniper: Ghost Warrior series the gameplay will be similar to past entries but will not be an open world this time around. The FPS game will put players in control of Seeker, a paid assassin hired to complete contracts and the game is set in Siberia, Russia this time around. Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts is set to be released on November 22, 2019 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
