No…Republicans don’t want to end Social Security and here’s why that’s a big lie

Lately many Democrats have been pushing the narrative that Republicans want to end Social Security and Medicare…Obama, Biden and both Bill and Hillary Clinton have been making this claim on the campaign trail this past week but it’s just not true at all and if you ask any of the Republicans they’re accusing of this they’ll tell you straight out they actually want to do the opposite and strengthen both.

Among the accused are House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, Sen. Ron Johnson and Sen. Rick Scott…While speaking at an event for candidate Josh Riley Bill Clinton said about McCarthy “He said if you vote for us, you didn’t cause this inflation, but you’re going to pay for it because here’s what we’re going to do: We’re going to cut Social Security, we’re going to cut Medicare” except McCarthy and other Republicans have never said anything like that at all.

When asked about these claims McCarthy pointed to his Commitment for America plan where he actually wants to save and strengthen Social Security and Medicare…Sen. Ron Johnson also said that

Ron Johnson also said that Democrats are making these false claims because they can’t defend their own bad policies…Johnson was quoted as saying “All they do is they trot out the same old lies, you know, the Republicans want to end Social Security, we want to put it on the chopping block. Nothing could be further from the truth,” and told Fox News “We want to save Social Security. We want to bring down inflation. We want to reduce massive deficit spending that sparked inflation.”

So where do these claims stem from? Well some Republicans have suggested we sunset legislation every 5 years…which just means all legislation comes back up for vote every 5 years just in case something becomes outdated or defunct…so yes that would include Social Security but would also include literally all other legislation…so the Democrats took that and turned it into the scare tactic of “They’re coming for your Social Security” which I can very much guarantee they are not doing.

For any candidate or politician to support ending Social Security would basically be career suicide…older people are the most likely ones to vote and by even thinking of ending Social Security you would lose pretty much all of those votes…this is just another example of how Democrats use fear and hate to get people to vote for them…nobody is coming for anyone’s Social Security…but the Democrats are lying to your face and treating you like you’re too stupid to figure that out…I don’t care who you support, when you’re being lied to and misled like that it should piss you off.

There used to be a time when the news was just the news…there was no left or right wing media…it was just media…but now you have to double and triple check every story because there’s almost always some dishonesty to what they tell us…start holding them accountable for their lies…punish them at the ballot box…because that’s really the only place we as citizens have any power anymore.
