I’m usually not one to watch many movies these days as I would rather get into a TV show that I can binge for a while and really get into, I’ve always felt like most movies don’t have enough content to really tell the stories they are trying to tell but I decided I’d give Spiderhead on Netflix a shot and see if it was any good…With actors like Miles Teller and Chris Hemsworth I felt like it had a chance to be decent.
The premise of the movie is a pharmaceutical company using prison inmates to test some of their new drugs…all of the drugs they test basically force the people to feel certain emotions and I felt like that was a pretty unique premise and I also felt like it’s not really that far off from how the actual drug companies work these days…I’m not going to get political about it but I think we all know by now that big pharma doesn’t have our safety or health in mind when researching new medications, it’s 100 percent about how much money they can make from it.

The acting was good and the plot was something I haven’t seen before, which is great these days when most movies are just remakes of old movies or stale ideas recycled…I enjoyed it but in the end felt like there just wasn’t enough time in the movie to tell a complete in depth story, it was good but at the same time reminded me why I prefer TV shows with multiple seasons.
I’m a huge Marvel fanboy, have been my entire life, even before the movies and I guess it’s still difficult for me to see Hemsworth as anyone else other than Thor but his acting was right up there on par with everyone else in the movie so it’s not his fault at all, overall I did enjoy the movie and would probably give it a 7 out of 10 but do wish there was more of a story there.
If you’re looking for something to relax to and chill out for a couple hours it’s certainly good for that but if you’re looking to watch something where you can relate to and really feel for the characters I don’t think this is what you’re looking for, it kind of feels like they had this great idea but didn’t want to put the work in for a TV series so they just shoved it all in a 2 hour movie and they left it off in a manner that there’s no way for a sequel or anything…I think it was just Netflix taking a couple big names and tossing it out there without a ton of effort.
So I do like a couple of the actors and I did enjoy myself while watching it but I also wish there was more to this story, it is better than most of the garbage Netflix has been pumping out lately though so if you’re bored and wanna space out to something for a couple hours this will be good for that for sure, it’s one of those movies you can space out to and still follow the story fine because it’s not very in depth or complicated and sometimes I guess that’s exactly what we’re looking for in a movie.
