Born Marc Sinclair on July 18, 1967 in California, Vin Diesel rose to stardom in the late 80’s and has stayed right on top ever since with great movie after great movie and millions of adoring fans. He has a ton of projects coming up, either in production or announced so I’m sure he won’t be fading from the spotlight anytime soon. Diesel has played so many memorable characters that it can be easy to forget or overlook some of them, so let’s go over some of his best roles.
Groot
Everyone’s favorite little super shrub, Vin Diesel has played Groot in a total of 4 movies so far , The first two Guardians of the Galaxy movies and the last two Avengers movies and he will be reprising his role in Guardians of the Galaxy 3 which is slated for 2021. The role may not require much from Vin Diesel as far as lines go , seeing that for the most part all Groot ever says is “I am Groot” but he did breath life into the character which turned out to be one of the best parts of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. Whether it be the original Groot, baby Groot or teenage Groot people just can’t seem to get enough of him.

Dominic Toretto
The Fast & The Furious movies have been around for what seems like forever now with 8 films and multiple spin-offs , it shows no signs of slowing down and Vin Diesel’s portrayal of Dominic Toretto has been key to the franchises success. Playing the head of a group of street racers that are more like a family he has helped bring us along on a journey with his character and the rest of the cast. Diesel is due to reprise his role as Dominic Toretto in The Fast & The Furious 9 due out in 2020 and The Fast & The Furious 10 planned for 2021.

Xander Cage
Depicted by Vin Diesel in the movie xXx, Xander Cage is an extreme sports star who becomes a spy. This might sound like a goofy premise but it actually works out okay and the film is more than decent, there was a sequel xXx: State of the Union but it had nothing to do with the character Xander Cage and starred Ice Cube rather than Vin Diesel . He would however come back to play the character again in xXx: Return of Xander Cage in 2017. He is also due to star in xXx 4 which is in pre-production right now.

Richard B. Riddick
The last of his race from a planet called Furya, Riddick is a force to be feared and Vin Diesel was the perfect actor to play him. The character first made his appearance in the movie Pitch Black in 2002 but they don’t really get into his background at all in that movie. It wasn’t until 2004 when Chronicles of Riddick was released that they get into how much of a badass he is and why he has those awesome freaking eyes. Vin diesel would again reprise his role in the 2013 hit Riddick and there was even a video game made at one point. With the next installment in the franchise Furya announced I for one can’t wait to see this character kick some ass again.

The Iron Giant
This is one that not everyone realizes but Vin Diesel was the voice for The Iron Giant in the animated science fiction movie released in 1999 by Warner Brothers. The movie is about a young boy who discovers a gigantic but friendly robot and is based on the novel The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. This is personally my favorite animated movie of all time and I’m not alone in that. We can all thank Vin Diesel for bringing this character to life for us all to fall in love with.
